The recycling industry generates about 160 milliards dollars turnover worldwide and employs an estimated 1,5 million people.
We can all, as individuals, participate to the recycling effort and most industrial countries are organising to collect recyclable products. Recycling has environmental benefits at every stage in the life cycle of a consumer product —from the raw material with which it’s made to its final method of disposal.
InnoVista Sensors locations are profiting by the Environment Days to spread recycling practices with the wish to see these actions continue in the future. Dedicated places within plants have been identified to signal where employees could bring their batteries, cans, plastic taps or ink cartridges.
Beverage cans, for instance, are 100 % recyclable and create no waste. On average, cans can represent more than 50% of recycled raw materials. Using recycled steel will require 75% energy less than producing a new can with brand new materials. When considering recycled aluminium, this number goes up to 95%. To bring support to the employees’ efforts, recycled cans will be weighted and InnoVista Sensors will match the results by transforming aluminium kilograms into euros. The company will then be able to make a donation to some local charities acting for the environment.
